Cynthia Howerter loves to write for the Lord. Currently, she writes regularly for SOAR WITH EAGLES and is working on a manuscript as well as an idea for a non-fiction book.
She began writing as a young child, fascinated as much with the telling of stories as with words when her mother and father entertained her with accounts of their own youth in rural Pennsylvania. These chronicals were the start of Cynthia’s lifelong love of stories.
After obtaining her first computer, Cynthia began composing short stories to amuse herself and friends who received them as emails. During her family’s two years of unemployment, she wrote a popular series of humorous short stories, again, obtained only through friendship and email. People are still asking for more.
A vibrant speaker, Cynthia has spoken before various church groups, congregations and organizations. She began her public speaking career as a teenager when she worked as a tour guide at Stan Hywet Hall, a 65-room mansion built by the founder of Goodyear Rubber Company. She quickly developed the skill of using words to keep her tour groups mesmerized and engaged.
For many years, Cynthia wondered about her family’s place of origin as well as the time of their arrival in the United States. Searching for answers led her on a 20-year journey in which she discovered her family’s fascinating genealogy. She took her young children with her to court houses, historical societies and cemeteries across Pennsylvania. And, yes, it’s true, her daughter learned to read in cemeteries. Cynthia has written several privately-published books pertaining to her family history. She is considered an authority on several familial lines, and has spoken at family reunions and genealogical societies throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
Cynthia is descended from Colonel John Kelly, a Revolutionary War officer who served with distinction at the Battle of Princeton. Along with her daughter and her sister, she is applying for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Cynthia and her husband live in Virginia where they share their house with two Himalayans, Beckham and Willoughby.
Cynthia is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and did her graduate work at Villanova University.
